Rhythmist™ offers a unique approach to rhythm training, drawing inspiration from activities in Musica Touch™ for the iPad and Practica Musica. Designed specifically for the iPhone, it introduces a gamified experience that appeals to users looking for an engaging way to enhance their rhythmic skills.

The application presents melodic examples that users are tasked with tapping accurately. While reading pitch notation is not required, users will hear the correct pitches alongside chord accompaniments, adding an engaging layer to the training. The initial free download includes ten random melodies, each spanning four measures, with the option to access thousands more through in-app purchases. Users can even earn additional free melodies by successfully completing sequences on their first attempt.

Interaction within Rhythmist is facilitated through a dual-key tapping interface reminiscent of piano keys, which allows for greater dexterity as users can alternate fingers. The app encourages persistence by allowing users to retry melodies until they achieve the desired accuracy and earn a gold star. Tempo adjustments can also be made to suit individual preferences, enhancing the overall learning experience.

Progression is structured into three levels; users can advance to Level 2 after mastering Level 1 melodies, and challenge themselves further with Level 3. Competitive players have the option to post their scores on Game Center, while others may simply aim to reach personal milestones—such as completing five melodies correctly on the first attempt or tackling the first 100 melodies without prior listening.

For those who opt for additional melody packs, sharing capabilities are available—allowing users to export music files compatible with Musica Touch for iPad, Ars Nova's desktop Songworks software, as well as midi and printable PDF files.
